Connect Kalen to Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor

Kalen is an X assistant that runs as an MCP server. You add it once to the AI you use, connect your X account and set your niche. From then on “plan my X posts for next week” comes back as a scored week of posts, scheduled after you approve. This guide walks through each app, then the first two prompts.

Claude.ai, desktop and mobile

Claude signs in to your Kalen account; there is no key to paste.

1. Create an account at kalen.si and set your password from the welcome email.
2. In Claude, open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
3. Name it Kalen and paste https://kalen.si/mcp as the URL.
4. Click Connect, sign in to Kalen and choose Allow.

The connector follows your account, so it works in the desktop and mobile apps too.

ChatGPT

1. Open Plugins in the sidebar, click Add in the top right and choose Add custom MCP server.
2. Name it Kalen, keep Connection on Server URL, paste https://kalen.si/mcp and leave Authentication on OAuth.
3. Tick I understand and want to continue and click Create as a plugin.
4. Sign in to Kalen and choose Allow.

Claude Code

Create a key on the Connect page, then run once:

Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (Cursor) or .vscode/mcp.json (VS Code), with the key from the Connect page:

Connect X and set your profile

Start a new chat and ask:

Set up Kalen: my niche is [your niche]. Connect my X account, then suggest keywords and reference accounts.

Your AI gives you a link to X’s own sign-in screen. Approve Kalen there; Kalen never sees your X password. Your AI then saves your profile: niche and keywords, the reference accounts to learn from, your time zone, your posting window and notes on your tone. You can also do all of this on the Profile page in your account, and disconnect X there at any time.

Plan your first week

Once your profile is set and you have a plan, ask:

Plan my X posts for next week with Kalen.

Your AI gets Kalen’s briefing (what is working in your niche, your own best posts) and your open time slots, and writes the drafts. Kalen scores each one from 0 to 100 against what works in your niche; drafts below the pass mark go back for a rewrite, up to 3 rounds. Your AI then shows you the week. Nothing is scheduled until you say yes.

By default that’s about 40 posts a week: around 30 evergreen posts plus a daily moment complement that reacts to the day’s trends. Approved posts show up in your Queue, and every call shows up under Usage.
