X Analytics: How to See Your Stats and Which Ones Matter
Short answer: every X account can see stats for each post for free: open a post and tap its view count or the analytics icon. The full account dashboard (trends over time, top posts, audience data, export) requires X Premium and lives on desktop under Premium → Analytics or Creator Studio → Analytics. For growth, the numbers worth watching are engagement rate, new follows per post and profile visits, not raw likes.
How do you see X analytics?
For one post (free)
- Open one of your posts in the app or on the web.
- Tap the view count or the analytics (bar chart) icon under it.
- You’ll see impressions, engagements, likes, replies, reposts, bookmarks, profile visits, link clicks and new follows from that post.
For your whole account (Premium)
- On desktop, open the left menu.
- Go to Premium → Analytics, or Creator Studio → Analytics, depending on your version.
- Choose a period: 7 days, 28 days, 3 months or a year.
- Use the Content tab to sort your posts by performance.
If you see an upgrade screen, your account doesn’t have Premium. The old analytics.twitter.com dashboard is no longer the way in.
What does each X metric mean?
| Metric | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Impressions | How many times the post was shown. Reach, not interest. |
| Engagements | Every interaction: clicks, likes, replies, reposts, profile and link clicks. |
| Engagement rate | Engagements ÷ impressions. The best single measure of whether a post landed. |
| Replies | Conversation. Heavily weighted by the X algorithm. |
| Reposts and quotes | How far a post travelled beyond your followers. |
| Bookmarks | Posts people want to keep. A strong sign of useful content. |
| Profile visits | Curiosity about you, the step before a follow. |
| New follows | The clearest sign that a post grew your account. |
| Link clicks | Whether a link (ideally in the first reply) got used. |
Which 4 numbers matter for growth?
You don’t need to track everything. Watch these:
- Engagement rate per post. Compare posts on rate, not raw likes, because impressions vary a lot from post to post.
- New follows per post. Which posts turn readers into followers? Make more of those.
- Profile visits. High visits with few follows means your profile isn’t closing the deal. Fix your bio and pinned post.
- Replies. Posts that start conversations keep getting shown. Note which topics and formats get replies.
What does a 15-minute weekly routine look like?
Once a week:
- Sort last week’s posts by engagement rate. Write down the top 3 and the bottom 3.
- Look for the pattern in the top 3. Same topic? Same format (list, opinion, result, story)? Same time of day?
- Check the bottom 3. Is it the topic, the first line, or the timing?
- Check new follows. Which posts brought them?
- Write next week’s plan: more of the top pattern, less of the bottom one, and one experiment.
This routine is the “learn from your own best posts” step most people skip. More in How to Reuse Your Best Tweets and Best Time to Post on Twitter (X).
Is X Premium worth it for analytics?
If you’re serious about growing on X, the account dashboard alone is a good reason to pay $8 a month. Seeing trends and sorting posts by performance is hard with post-by-post stats. X Premium: price, tiers and whether it’s worth it.
Without Premium, you can still run the weekly routine by opening each post’s stats and keeping a simple sheet.
Can your AI learn from your best posts?
Analytics only help if they change what you post next. Kalen reads your own most popular posts every week, along with the top posts in your niche. When you ask Claude or ChatGPT for next week’s posts, your AI writes from that briefing. Kalen scores every draft against your best posts and what’s working in your niche, so the lessons from your analytics go into the next week automatically.
