Short answer: X Premium has three tiers. On the web they cost $3 a month for Basic, $8 for Premium and $40 for Premium+ ($32, $84 and $395 a year). For a creator trying to grow, Premium at $8 is the tier that matters: it adds the checkmark, a reply boost, the full analytics dashboard and access to X’s creator payouts. Basic leaves most of that out, and Premium+ only pays off for heavy users.

Buy on the web. Subscribing through the iPhone or Android app costs noticeably more for the same tier, because of app store fees.
Premium+ was $16 a month at launch. It rose to $22 in late 2024 and to $40 in February 2025, after the Grok 3 release. Basic and Premium have stayed at $3 and $8.

Does X Premium help your reach?
The most useful part for growth is the reply boost. Replies from subscribers are ranked higher under other people’s posts. When you’re small, replying under bigger accounts in your niche is one of the main ways new people find you, so a higher position matters.
Premium also makes you a verified follower for other creators, and only verified followers count toward X’s monetization thresholds.

Does X Premium help you make money?
You need Premium or Premium+ to earn from X. In 2026 that means:
- Original Content Rewards, which replaced Creator Revenue Sharing in September 2026: payouts based on qualified impressions from verified users on your original posts.
- Creator Subscriptions: followers pay you monthly for extra content.

Is X Premium worth it?
Premium ($8) is worth it if:
- you post most days and reply often, where the reply boost compounds;
- you want the full analytics dashboard to see what’s working;
- you plan to monetize on X, since it’s required.
Basic ($3) is worth it if: you only want to edit posts and write longer ones.
Premium+ ($40) is worth it if: you rely on X Pro for monitoring, use Grok heavily, write Articles, or want no ads. For most solo creators the jump from $8 to $40 isn’t justified by reach alone.
Stay free if: you post occasionally and aren’t trying to grow or earn on X.
